What are some communities that have the same culture as far as getting connections to people?

one where we can host or talk about other organizations or website communities, etc that its easy to get connected to.

For anyone who knows twitter knows how easy it is to grab the attention of people, and how people start twitter accounts for organizations, web sites, fan clubs, paranormal groups, high schools, and the list goes on and on but even as a simple member of twitter i get followers without much on my part.
