How come my brother doesn't enjoy birthdays?

There must have been something in the past that could have changed his perception of birthdays forever. It is common that young kids afflicted with the happy notion of birthdays have encountered some event or treatment that would make them deterred from being happy on their birthday. Or possibly he cannot stop thinking that he is one year closer to his death, which may cause him anxiety or depression. Not talking to him about is the worst thing you could do.
