See its a myth that facebook profiles can cause problems for getting into colleges and jobs. its nothing like that. the social and professional lives are kept separate by institutions and enterprises. facebook is just based on the idea for being in touch with your friends, even when they are in different continents. its like you go to a party, but your friend wasn't able to attend it. you clicked some pictures and uploaded them so that your friend can enjoy it although he/she missed it. so the bottom line is, its to keep your friends closer.
