How can I convince my mine to let me wear makeup?

I am a pretty responsible girl and I get good grades. I am not allowed to have Facebook but I have a twitter and and an instagram. I think that since I am going into eight grade that it is the right time since I am going back to school and everything. I have an odd situation. My mom doesn't want me wearing makeup but my dad says I can because its what the kids are wearing and stuff. I want to ask my parents in an easy way. I know that they will say that I am beautiful the way I am and that I am perfect. What can I say to them when they say that.. I think they will also say that I want to because all my friends do. I need a good way to convince my mom but need to tell her so that she can't just say no to me right off the bat.. It would help if another girl with the same problem answered me
