Twitter is a free social networking site. like facebook and myspace. And also twitter is not like facebook and myspace where you can write stuff, chat with people and share fotos,videos.
Twitter is nothing like that. You can "update your status" and let your friends see that. that is called tweeting. And by the way, if privacy is what is important then worry not if u are only using twitter for the purposes u mentions.

Yea, now a days one place to keep abrush wid the celebs' life is twitter.com.

your mom's not wrong in stopping u from getting a twitter account though. she jus cares more maybe.
