I guess it's not right. However, women continue to use the name so that they could have the same name as their kids where schools, doctors, finance etc are concerned.

It's a big wrench to change your name after a divorce. You've lost so much, and to lose your name too, is emotionally damaging. Women sometimes need time to adjust to this.
