I donate, buy things for fundraisers from all my friends. I never ask them for donations or to buy things. Now?

Fight Like A Girl! My FaceBook page is the pink awareness ribbon. So sorry you're going through this now. It's sometimes better to have a handful of close than a roomful of those who aren't, although I know that's not always comforting to hear.
And, No,You aren't being silly at all! What I'd recommend is periodically posting the race information on the home wall, asking for prayers and support for the race; plus, I'd give out breast exam facts and information/links on how to do a monthly breast exam. Keep it upbeat and positive. Some people are so frightened by cancer that they have difficulty even acknowledging it exists. A gentle coaxing might help. I am constantly trying to raise donations and awareness for my causes. I find that this time of year is difficult for many financially. They've already spent their tax refunds, it's graduation and wedding season, if the family is going to keep up with the Jones a vacation is to be planned, some visit elderly relatives during the summer that may need additional help, some have next year's college tuition coming up, etc. It's true that the lack of response may not be meant personally towards you. Some are crippled by their own deep embarrassment over having financial struggles. Remember the average American reports being 2 paychecks away from homelessness. When it comes to matters of health, many people don't realize how far even a token amount would go to help another feel supported. I am so proud of you for participating in the Race for the Cure. Putting a face on breast cancer helps people become more aware. What you are doing is admirable and you are touching more people than you even realize. Thank you for reaching out to help make this difference! Ps. I know you weren't asking for health advice, but as a cancer survivor myself and having my Great Aunt Mal having breast cancer, please take a look at this information if you haven't already. Of course, talk with doctor about anything new you might want to add. http://www.ehow.com/way_5602877_alkaline...ancer.html Best to You! <3 <3 <3 |
