It's not illegal, but it could come back to bite him because potential employers/colleges could see that and it would keep him from getting a job/going to college.

But I supsect stepdad does watch porn, maybe even kiddie porn, and is afraid he will be caught. Otherwise, I don't know why he he would react that strongly.

If it's not illegal to watch porn, why would it be illegal to talk about it? Free speech and all. (Assuming you are in the US).

Now if the porn involves minors, that's a different thing.
