I don't blame your parents for blocking you from those sites. There are really dangerous people out there, and people doing things that teens and tweens should not be exposed to.

My daughters have alwayst had open access to our computers with the following condition: We need to know all their passwords, and we can see what sites they visit any time. In fact, they were the ones that suggested that we friend them on Facebook. Try it, see what the parental units say.
