The internet is safe for kids 8+ if their parents teach them about internet security.
1. Do not post pictures online 2. Do not post your last name online 3. Do not post your address, name of school, phone number, landmarks (in your city) online. 4. Do not post information about your siblings, parents or friends online. 5. Do not give out your passwords to anyone else. 6. Ask permission or research about any program you download (before you download it). 7. Make a new e-mail and new IM address for online friends. Do not give out your personal e-mail or im to people you meet online. 8. Only use webcam with people you know offline. 9. Try to only add people to your facebook/myself that you know. Avoid adding complete strangers unless you had a conversation with them beforehand. My parents taught me those when I was 10. If anyone follows those 9 rules, they will be safe online. By the age of 13, these should already be registered in your head. |
