Perhaps they have seen the simple spelling mistakes eighth graders make and it is embarrassing to them. Unlike Yahoo Answers that has spell check, Facebook does not. You see, people judge other people constantly and even as minor as words like things, spelled thigs, it a reflection on the level of learning being achieved in school or perhaps the over use of texting.

Bottom line is, older people simply are not as worried about keeping up with 250 friends as a 13 year old would be.
