Talk to your girlfriend about what she is expecting to get out of this. Try to get her to really think about it. I know lots of people who have been through this. When they eventually find their bio-parent, most find they have nothing in common, almost as many discover their bio-parent only wants contact so they can take advantage - often taking them for lots of money and using emotional blackmail to get them to buy things for them, some are quite disgusted with what they find and are really traumatised discovering what their bio-parent is really like. But probably less than 1 % have a happy reunion and it has all been worthwhile.
If she decides to go ahead, then start by talking to all the people who might have known him. It helps if you have a name. Even if you don't, if you speak to the people who knew the bio-mom at the time of conception, one of them might know. You can also try telephone directories, Facebook, etc. If you can find out what bio-dad was doing when last heard of, that can also give you clues. e.g. if he was studying medicine, he will probably be registered as a doctor. If he was at school, not very academic but really into cars, he may have trained as a mechanic and be working in a local garage, or be selling cars. Write down all information you find - you never know when it might be important but you don't realise it at the time. Ads |
