How should I punish my child?

My child is 13 she recently went on facebook and joined an atheist group my sister in-law called to tell me and now my whole family saw. We are catholic and she continues to tell me she doesn't believe in god and wants my approval. I was very embarassed. So far we took away the computer and Itouch ( she paid for her own Itouch is this fair? ) we don't know how long. She isn't allowed out and is really depressed. Am I doing the right thing?
