How should I punish my child?

I started out totally agreeing with you, but after typing 3 paragraphs I changed my mind. If you have not led by example and taken your daughter to church weekly, read the bible with her, and taken the time to really talk to her about God then you need to rethink punishing her. She is 13, a child. She is just getting to the age that most people make the decision about their beliefs. I think the main reason you punished her may have been because she embarassed you. Instead of punishing her, why don't you TEACH her? Tell her why you want her to be a christian and how wonderful it is, tell her how great God is and all the wonderful things he has done in your life and how Jesus died for our sins. Punishing her may just make her more rebelious.
