How to get noticed with Singing?

Now, it seems like singing is everyone's dream lol
First, ask other people besides family and close friends if you're a good singer. You can never really trust family since half the time they are just trying to be nice. If you ask sing and ask someone who you aren't very close to (neighbor, distant friend, etc) you are more likely to get an honest answer.
Then, put up some youtube vids, and make a facebook, and myspace page. Write songs and its also important that you know how to play an instrument (guitar, piano, etc) because it will help you along with song writing.
