Facebook is a curious thing.
It has managed to penetrate ALL demographics, even though MySpace achieved greater numbers long before Facebook ever picked up. That being said, etiquette takes on a higher importance. UNLIKE real life, statements left are simply text. You know how the scientists try to discern Egyptian hieroglyphics? It is somewhat the same on Facebook. There are no emoticons (happy/sad faces), and no tone of voice is heard. On the juxtapose, "friends" on Facebook that don't act like a Blarney Stone bore their contacts, and yet, SO MUCH accountability is there... People have lost jobs and benefits over Facebook postings. Suppose that a 21st century medium requires a 21st century approach... Elegance! |
