@ is for the people you want to tweet at just write @ and their usernames. # are hashtags, trends or is used to make write things shorter without space since you have a limited space. For example:My favorite place to ask questions is #yahooanswers. If you want followers just follow people and most likely they're gonna follow you back. Make sure, you share some of the same interests because otherwise, you're gonna waste time reading their nonsense tweets.
