why do people follow other people on twitter?

Following someone on twitter puts all of their posts into your timeline along with yours and everyone else that you follow. You can direct message them, which is a private conversation that no one else can read, tag them in your posts by using @(their username), view their profile information, etc.
Just because you follow someone does not mean that they are following you too and reading all of your tweets. That's why there's a "Following" and "Followers" section. Whether they follow you or not is up to them. If they don't, then they just won't have your posts incorporated into their timeline. Also, a lot of the time people only follow people to try to gain more followers for themselves, which is being a twitter w h o r e. Ads |
