Can you convince me to get a smartphone?

Smartphones are made to cater people's needs. Some people feel more comfortable with a standard nokia that makes calls and texts. Originally, phones were made for standard communication without the excessive need of 'apps' and internet and so on. Sometimes people are satisfied without the latest technology.

Smartphones have been designed to be smarter than your average nokia. They come in much better designs than chunky bricks. You'll find them lighter in weight and sleeker in design. The touch screens are sensitive so much so that you no longer need to stab at the screen for it to recognize a force. The quality of picture on the screen itself is better than your average phone. They've been completely modernized. Some phone even have a qwerty keyboard for people who find it easier to type with a keyboard. Each phone is unique in their design and there's always one out there for someone.
For starters, video and camera use benefits greatly for the times when you need to capture a memory or share something with your friends on Facebook. Camera quality has improved to over 8-megapixels in some phones, which is self-explanatory. What's the point in having pictures on your phone when they're going to be blurry and unrealistic?
Using wifi for interenet browsing allows you to access the internet on the go. Why wait to go home to use the internet when you have it at your fingertips?
Whether you're on an android smartphone or an apple smartphone, you can access thousands of apps to download. There are apps designed for practically everything. You can watch tv programs and movies through netflix, bbc iplayer, itv player, etc which doesn't restrict you to your sofa at home. You can keep track of your lifestyle by using an app that logs your diet and fitness schedule and there's even an app for women to keep track of their menstrual cycle! There are shopping apps for those last minute buys and those apps that aren't essential but they're useful to carry with you such as Soundhound, an app that you can record a song, you singing the song or humming and it will instantly recognize the song and the artist (for those times you forget!). There are downloadable books to read in the android market and even films to rent. If you're a gamer, there are hundreds of games to download that keep you busy for days. Another benefit is having music with you wherever you go.
It's also about having those nifty gadgets with you when you need them. A flashlight for when you need to see into a tight, dark space or when it's night and you don't need to necessarily turn your light on. Having an app to look at the weather is much easier than sitting at home waiting for the news to tell you the weather forecast for the week/day. Having mail sent to your phone, notifying you when you have a new e-mail is easier than logging onto your computer and into your account to check if you have or not. Having a satnav on your phone is surely easier and less costly than buying a seperate satnav altogether is it not? The latest technology also allows you to view more content. in the past you've had to download certain softwares to view images or videos on the internet whereas now it's already installed in the phone. You're also able to block calls with ease and use your calender to plan ahead and schedule things. Your contacts are also linked to their facebook/twitter/etc profiles so you can see their last status on their profile.
Some phones have even improved on security. For example, new HTC models include HTC sense where you log online, should you misplace or lose your phone and you can lock it and track it. HTC's also have a sensor which can sense if it's in your pocket/bag and the volume of the ringtone when someone calls you gets louder so you're able to hear it. You are also able to turn your phone screen facing a surface which ignores the call, in case you're in a meeting. It's little touches like this that make a smartphone more handy.

If this hasn't persuaded you, I don't know what will.
