Does this count as identity theft, can I report these threats?

It's not identity theft until the person follows through with it, but he IS getting harrassed and stalked and bullied. This sort of thing is serious.

Yes, you can use the saved messages and text's against them - take your friend to the police and report it before it gets worse.

and hacking someones anything - be in their facebook, myspace, twitter, email, blog, YA! account etc - is illegal.
