How dangerous is it to give away personal info?

They can sell your e-mail to affiliated companies and use for marketing such as sending you direct mail to your home address and sending you spam to your email regarding products and brands. It is not dangerous unless they ask for a social security # or Divers license. But it can also be harassing getting emails and direct mail pieces.
