In your opinion are the rich class responsible for the conditions that make poverty so common?

It's the free market system gone awry after decades of deregulation and lower taxes.

Their goal is to make higher profits by making their companies leaner - which means doing everything they can to lower costs.

Lowering costs means lowering wages, eliminating benefits, etc.

Wages have stagnated since Reagan, and that is one of the issues with Social Security. They had originally calculated that there would be times where there would be more children, and times there would be fewer; times when people would live longer; etc. They did not calculate that salaries would stagnate, yet the richest would make more than anyones' wildest dreams - yet they would pay less into the system than the middle class...
