Good question.

Twitter is a real-time app, just a stupid example, if you follow a celebritity, and he/she write drinking coffee now, then you can get this msg on your homepageSmile

Actally twitter plays a key role in some big breaking event, like the Hudson River Plane Landing, and Jackson, and AT&T...

As myself, I track news from google, twitter, and I even built a website based on twitter, utwitbook.com , it helps you to find twitter-ers.
