How do a Twitter user obtain more followers?

To me, having lots of followers isnt such a big deal, but thats because to have a lot of followers, you have to follow a lot of people. Here's a couple of things that may help you.

1) get involved in the trending topics. regularly check whats happening in the trending topics at the left of the page. if there's something you can relate to, tweet about it.
2) follow other people first. search for people who have similar interests. it could be anything, such as music, sport or tv programmes. follow them, and hopefully most will follow you back.
3) hashtag (#) #teamfollowback. you can put this in your bio so people who visit your profile know that you're willing to follow them back. also search the hashtag so you can find people who will follow you back.

thats just a couple of ideas. also the more you tweet the more likely you'll get people following you.
