How does one market themselves to direct clients?

if it was me, I would understand whom the client is, is it a type of business, a type of role / title etcetera and segment them giving them a chance of success for the business against each, that way you can focus your time.

I would measure my results against the targets in terms of calls, meetings and output / win / work.

To approach them you first need to ID them, depending on what/who you might be able to buy a database, target them directly via phone (always go for pa if business high flyer), email or perhaps run an event (social / work / networking) to entice them in.

Easier to work with a group once, than a whole heap of individuals, IF that fits with the target audience.
