Paying for links is definitely a bad idea. The search engines are wise to these so-called "link farms", and will penalise sites that are participating in them.
You say you have a Flash-based site. Flash and search engine optimisation are mutually exclusive. Search engines can only search text, not Flash. There's nothing wrong with making a site predominately Flash, but don't expect it to rank high in search results. At the very least, you need to provide a lot of text to supplement the Flash. But my overriding advice, for anyone wanting to score well with search engines, is first and foremost to develop a site that has interesting content - and lots of it. If there's nothing for the engines to index, your site might as well be invisible. If the site is interesting, it will attract links, and that's the best thing for getting a high ranking. |
