What is the different between SEO and SMO and Payper Click?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of configuring a website (in simple terms) so that the search engines display your website higher than a competitors website in the natural listings, or what are called the SERP's (Search Engine Results Page)

For example, head over to Google.com and search for something like Canon Digital Cameras.
Once the results are returned, you'll see that the #1 page BELOW the first three (3) ADS is the site
http://usa.canon.com

Thus, in this example, the Canon corporate site has the #1 SEO listing for the search term Canon Digital Cameras.

As for SMO, or Social Media Optimization, that's basically the process in which a company can interact with their potential customers OUTSIDE of their natural environment, such as a brick & mortar store.

A good example of this is seen often at the end of today's current TV Commericals...in that you'll often see icons of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube at the bottom of the screen as the commercial comes to a close. Those icons indicate that you can further interact with said companies by simply "following them" on those mainstream social media outlets.

Pay Per Click Advertising is just that....someone is paying (Often Google, Microsoft of Yahoo) to have a particular "ad" displayed.

Again, if we use the example above regarding Canon Digital Cameras via Google (and YOU'RE NOT using any type of ad-blocker), you'll see that on the RIGHT SIDE of the Google results a list of about 10 or so 'ads' being displayed by various companies.

Pay Per Click (PPC) is often tied to impressions AND the number of times someone actually clicks on those ads. It's somewhat complicated, but if you're interested in learning about PPC advertising, just head over to Google and search for "how to learn PPC" or something similar.
