what should i do so in love?

so theres this guy, and hes really popular and i really like him-i mean really like him, and once on twitter he said he really liked me too and i was so happy a day later i found out it was all a joke and he didnt even say sorry!...im really depressed and i dnt know what to do. He told everyone i like him and now everyone knows i like him and its spreading round the whole school-these mean girls keep making fun of me and are threatening to tell the whole class tomorrow, i cant just let it happen but there is nothing i can do. Also, i dont think this guy see's how much he has hurt me but if i talk to him over twitter and tell him he will just tell everyone what i say which will give the mean girls the satsifaction, but i dont think i can do it face to face i like him so much but its getting out of hand. I know inside hes a really nice person although on the outside he is a total jerk and i know that if he saw how hurt i was he would feel bad and maybe ask everyone to stop-he has power over people he can do this...what do i do? please help and no mean answerss--(i will give best answer)
