stock investments for valentines day, good or bad idea?

No, it wouldn't be a good idea. When people look at earnings, they compare it to the same time a year ago. So people don't really care if a company's earnings this quarter are going to spike around Valentine's Day; what they want to know is if the company made significantly more money than it did around last Valentine's Day.

If you want to do a swing trade based on current events then consider oil. The Egypt situation and the fact that unrest might move into Jordan and Yemen will cause people to be nervous about the price of oil, causing its price to rise.
