How do I cure "lazy brain"?
I have this problem, see...I have a lazy brain. And I get very bored very easily and move from task to task without completing the previous one.
That isn't to say I'm not intelligent, it's just that I do lazy thinking when it comes to analyzing situations, reading, interpreting, etc. For instance, when I read, I always try to immediately look at the big picture and not focus on details, which I then realize I just sped through an entire chapter and I have no idea what I just read. If I slow down (REALLLY slow down) then it's easier, but I have horrible attention deficit and I end up getting frustrated and want to get to the point already, so I miss pertinent details. When I watch a movie, I will watch the entire movie and not know the names of any main characters. I just don't think about it and I don't pay attention to the details, I guess. I think my issue is I try to rush from point A to point B and miss everything in between. I'll have a vague understanding of the overall idea, but since I missed details I'll be a bit behind in the understanding department. When I sit down to do anything (and I mean ANYTHING) I get distracted so easily. I will try to watch a show online and then pause it to flip to facebook. Then to twitter. Then to a definition of some word that I was trying to think of earlier but couldn't recall, etc. Then I'll restart the show and repeat the process. A 30 minute show will take me an hour and a half to watch I will also sometimes stop dead in my tracks in the middle of sentences because I'll forget a word out of nowhere. While it's kind of funny, it really isn't. I definitely have severe attention/patience issues; HOWEVER I absolutely do not believe in pharmaceutical means to remedy this situation. I eat fairly well, I sleep at least 7 hours each night, I'm in good shape...what else? I don't really exercise much because I can never find the time to do so (or maybe my lazy brain is taking over my body?). Do I need more B-12 in my life? Are there any brain exercises I can do to increase focus and attention and not get so bored with my tasks easily? ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance! Additional Details I would especially appreciate any feedback from people who suffer from a lazy brain and have overcome it. Ads |
