If you're referring to job prospects then yeah, you've got a ton of options. Don't listen to people who tell you that you can't get a good job with degrees like Anthropology because you most definitely can. In fact you have way more options available to you than a lot of people, particularly those doing job-specific degrees. If you're the kind of person that doesn't know what you want to do with the rest of your life (like me) or you want to try your hand a couple of different careers in your lifetime (again, like me) then an anthropology degree will keep a lot of doors open whilst opening a hell of a lot of windows too.
Obviously when it comes time to get a job it will be as competitive as it would be with any other degree, and your personality and social skills will more than likely be the deciding factor. Luckily for you, spending 3/4 years doing an undergraduate degree with like minded, cultured anthropologists will improve your social skills exponentially! In terms of actual jobs, where to start? In the UK at least, employers actively recruit the top tiers of anthropology graduates to work in the following sectors: Advertising Public Relations Marketing Media/Journalism Teaching/University Teaching Research (For Business or Academics) Police Force/Intelligence Agencies Military (a new, but rapidly increasing field) I'm currently in my final year of an Anthropology degree and I'm currently assessing what I'd like to do next. I think if you want to do it, do it. Don't make a decision based on what engineers or medics tell you the job market is like for anthropology graduates. There will always be a million jobs, you just have 3/4 years longer than everybody else to decide what you want to do. Hope this is of some help to you Ads |
