How do I confront a bisexual guy I like?

I met this guy on Facebook by accidentally adding him (LONG STORY haha)
He's a cute gentle guy who everyone loves. Everyone I've asked about him said that he's such a sweet caring guy, which I adore and long for. We chit chat here and there on statuses, and we happen to like our posts frequently. I'm not sure if hes just being nice or playing hard to get. We talk like we know each other, I've only met him once...and even then we didn't say a word to each other (I KNOW OMG). I really wanna get to know him better, but I don't know how to start a conversation. The only way I can do this is through Facebook or through my friend, which might come off as me having interest (is that necessarily a bad thing?. Also, I don't want to be blunt about my affection for him. I wanna get to know him first as a friend, so how do I do this without sounding thirsty? Throughout high school I've had crushes on straight men (the struggle...) but this time its with a bisexual man and now I finally feel like I have an opening to go from something that I actually like. He's like a clone of me. We like a lot of the same things, but the only thing that's different about us is our personality. Hes very driven and outgoing, were as I'm extremely shy and anxious. Ugh, I just need advice. I am one hot MESS.
ALSO I have his number ironically...lol. Don't want to text him before he gives it to me.
I don't know why I felt the need to add bisexual in the question >.< I was thinking to post this in the lgbt section but I didn't. and I know I need to spend time with him in person, but the hard part for me is initially getting to that point. I feel like, either way, he's gonna know I'm interested by going out of my way to be with him, so...
