Just because you fooled around doesn't mean that you're going to hell. From the sound of it, this guy really likes you and you should give him the chance to prove it to you. Birth control would not be a bad idea for multiple reasons, like let's say that you're having a good night and one thing leads to another, and you know. Birth control is good for more than just not making a baby when you don't want one. I'm on it because of problems once a month and acne, and because my husband and I don't want a baby right now. Just because he's not a virgin too doesn't mean anything. A good guy would wait for you to be ready, and i truly believe that this guy is capable of doing so.

Don't push him away just because you fooled around one time.
