Sometimes high status girls are attracted to nerdy guys because it may seem kinda off limits(or mysterious or unknown). You may have been a fantasy and she actually had a crush on you.

Now that you are actually trying to act on what she was doing she may be freaking out in a nervous way because she is not sure what she wants anymore.

She could also have a crush on someone else and that may be why she is being short with you.

My advice (because you said she is worth it) is to ask to hang out some time as a friend really causal. coffee? doing hmwk together? But tell her she is pretty. Don't be just a friend, flirt and attract her without putting any pressure on her. Take things slow but don't be only a friend you have to flatter her.
