You can't trust what you hear completely and it's not fair to judge him on what you heard he said. It's different if you hear him say something mean while you're there. Also, if you like someone and they like you, go ahead and say yes if they ask you out. If the other guy is really a good friend, he'll understand and it won't change your friendship. Good luck!
