Do you use hashtags?
Are you posting ads or actually useful information?
Does your business have a blog that can drive people to your twitter account and then back to your web site?

You get followers by being useful. Useful means providing content people will look forward to getting (whether it is a link to a good article, a blog post, etc.). Self-promotion tweets (i.e., buy from me, go to my web site, etc.), should be no more than 1 out of every 4 or 5 tweets (and less if you are good). Also, do you vary the times of your tweets?
