I think you should start with messaging him or starting a conversation through facebook first to make you feel more comfortable with him. Since he likes a lot of your posts it would be normal for you to comment on his post. Just comment on his picture or something. This may sound stupid but when people constantly like your stuff they have interest in you and possibly like you. A girl has done this and i happen to have gone out with her before. If not you could talk to him when hes doing the prop and talk about the musical or something. Its not that you don't know what to say rather you seem nervous on the approach.
