If you are upgrading from the Sidekick then I highly suggest getting it.
As far as AIM goes, the Slide is an Android Open Source phone and there are several apps in the market that are for messaging. I would suggest Hi AIM. It definitely keeps you logged on (exceptions being a change of coverage or switching your WIFI on/off). It also has several themes that fit any customizations you would want. Battery life is awesome. Definitely an upgrade from my old phone (G1). Goes from 100% to about 30-20% during my work shift with WIFI on and also with all sorts of notifications being pushed into it (GMail, Twitter, Facebook, etc) and with constant use checking market apps and all that. As for extras, the Internet Browser is really good. Comes stocked with Flash 9.1 (I think), letting websites with Flash content (like http://www.newgrounds.com) play. I warn you that some videos/games are a bit laggy. There is a specific app that handles Voice Commands and it is extremely accurate. Specs-wise, it sports a 600Mhz processor, 5Mp Camera with LED flash, real responsive Touchscreen 3.4in diagonally, obviously QWERTY keyboard which is one of the coolest ones thus far, Android 2.1 (but no live wallpaper support) with a re-vamped HTC Sense UI running on top. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this phone a 9. I hope my answer was informative enough : ) |
