i am assuming you meant to write "youtube"
are you sure it just does not says that you have not mail?
why no try to make a comment in a video, replay to that comment with/from a different account(ask someone or make a new account and reply your self to yourself). and so go back to your account and it show show that you have 1 message in your inbox click on it and see whatever it works now or not, you could also try to connect it to other accounts like a facebook, google plus or twitter account.
