Whats the difference between blogging and twittering?

The basic difference is that Blogging is free style writing whereas Twitter only allows 140 characters at a time.
A blog, which is short for weblog, is an online journal or diary, about what recently happneed. Twitter, is a "micro-blog", which means it is similar to a blog, but is meant to be short, sweet, and to the point.
Blogging rather than twittering offers a better chance of bridging the gap between the various publics just noted. Blogging and twittering represent different genres with a considerable degree of overlap. The blogging genre allows for extended discussion, and comments thereto. Twitter does not. Blogging is more suitable for multi-partner conversation and linking across wide spans of an intellectual and social microcosm. It’s possible to tweet on a blog, but that is a feature, not a bug. An index of flexibility. It isn’t possible to ponder and be ponderous on twitter. Or at least it seems out of place.
Blogging is a bridge across more than one river that once was impassible. Every week my inbox is crammed with correspondence from non-specialists in biblical studies, lawyers, doctors, and teachers for example, who are just as eager to understand the Bible as grad students in the field are. I can’t keep up with it. Non-academics in fact are more eager about understanding issues of Bible and faith and doubts and questions about both, because they suffer less from burn-out, a common ailment among academics.
