How is is that some users here are using animated avatars?

Moving avatars are animated gifs. Yahoo technically does not allow them to be used directly. They may even ban them in the future. You must create one as your avatar on Twitter. You then go to Pulse and link it to Twitter. It is then available as an avatar choice.

NOTE: There have been avatar problems recently where the avatar comes and goes. Be warned that you may have problems.
