How did you get your first job after college?

I actually got a job offer before I even graduated. I don't know if you have graduation works is the US. The last semester of your education is spent at a company where you get to help them out, you get a project and you present your work before you graduate. I got a job offer there after being there for about 3 months but I turned it down.

That summer I spent traveling but when I got back in September I looked for jobs for about 2 months before I found one. I would say I applied for maybe 30 different jobs and went to 3 interviews.

And the other answer is right. I went mechanical engineering. Any jobs involving science, technology or within the industry sector will give you a job pretty quickly. But majors, as you call them, such as biology, art, social jobs and such are almost worthless. The market is full. Everyone wants these jobs so there are none to be had. Either choose something good or don't go to college at all.
