How can a person stop being obsessed with the internet?

You could cancel your ISP contract. Give your PC/Laptop to a friend/relative until you're weened off it. Alternatively, you could devote your internet time to other, healthier pursuits like say, volunteering for charity or community projects. That would be good because you'd be helping others by helping yourself.

Facebook is all about providing audiences to advertisers. Unless you're organising an uprising (as Facebook users did in Tunisia, Egypt...etc) it's just a gigantic waste of time.
