Just curious...can your yahoo email contacts see your yahoo answers posts?

I really don't have anything to hide, I just like to know a little more about the internet world I know that your fans on yahoo answers can see them, but is email completely different than your yahoo answers account? When I post answers and questions, I normally don't pay attention to "share as an update to..." at the bottom of the screen. I do notice that facebook and twitter are never checked, but the box for yahoo always is. Does that mean your email contacts see what you post or what?
I heard sometimes if your posts are shared as yahoo updates, it can be viewed on your profile (regular yahoo, not yahoo answers), but what if you click on your profile and it says it isn't activated? Does that mean your mail contacts don't see your posts?
