If he hurts himself you would feel bad afterwards if you didn't do anything. You are in a difficult position of wanting to help and yet (rightfully) not wanting to get involved. At the same time, you probably realize he is putting that stuff out there because he knows it will get your attention or other people's.

It sounds to me like a response that doesn't overly involve you would be a good idea. Instead of calling his mom, text her what you put in the message above. Don't take any calls from either of them.

That's what I would do, but you have to make the decision for yourself. Try to find a balance between not feeling guilty and not getting too far.
