Ironically when you feel alone and that you're the outsider that doesn't fit in and nobody else feels awkward/misunderstood you actually have more in common with everyone else than you could possibly know.
First of all don't fight yourself; try new things and put yourself in social situations that would make you nervous and embrace that feeling which would normally stop you doing so until it that feeling is associated positively rather than negatively.
Other than that, there are therapies such as hypnotherapy and herbal aids such as 'rescue remedy' which may help on the side.
