How would you deal with self embarrassment?

I have had severe scoliosis since i was born, it makes me look very different, i have a twitter and other accounts that require me to have a picture, instead of putting one of myself i put a picture of a band i like or of a movie i like because i am scared of people looking at the real me. I want to know how people would deal with this type of situation. This is a very sensitive question so please be nice.
