Does falsely accusing someone of being gay give them cause to sue for slander?

I'm not a lawyer yet, and the law depends on every state/country, so you might want to take my words with a grain of salt. Anyway-
--------------------------- Technically, yes. I could mispronounce your name and that would be enough to give you grounds to sue me- BUT The law is flexible. It depends on the judge if he would consider being called "Gay" as actually defamatory, if there was ill-intent, and if there are actual damages done. |
