It's actually really messed up. It's not usually a full makeup product, just a component. Sometimes they inject it under their skin, mix it into their food, tube it into their stomach, inject it up their anus or vagina, or use a restraint to lock their body in place so they cant move, hold their eyes open, and place drops or flakes of the substance in their eyes. Then they wait to see if their eyes become red and irritated, if they start bleeding out the eyes, nose, mouth or rectum, any other side effects. After the tests, they usually kill all the animals because they are no longer good for any more testing. In other types of tests, they just inject higher and higher doses of a substance until half the animals die, and then they use that to rate how dangerous that substance could possibly be.
