What would you do ? I left school crying and I feel horrible. Advice?

I'm 16 and there's this close guy friend ive been friends for 2 years and liked and still like him for about 2 years and counting. He had a girlfriend for almost 2 years and broke up up her almost 3 months ago which was very tough for him. 7 months ago when he was going out with her i confessed my feelings for him over facebook and of course he friendzoned me cus he obviously had gf. Now he's single and hes sayid how amazing and special of a FRIEND I am and how im always there for him and one of the few people that put a true smile on his face so im guessing im still friendzoned. Should i wait a little and ask him his feelings for me? or what ? tips? I see his tumblr and twitter and he posts stuff about love and im sure he's talking about his now ex girlfriend. So he obviously still has strong feelings for her and im just afraid they may get back together in the future then my chances are ruined..:/

he broke up with her because he felt he was putting her as his first priority than God, family, school. So that's why. He felt God tell hiim that she's not right for him and that he needs to put HIm first instead of her. Im a christian too btw and if that's the reason then i bet he'll probably get back with her in the future...who knows. ugh and just yesterday I overheard him talking to his guy friend about not being sure of when to ask her (referring to his previously ex gf kerri) and in my mind im like, "ask her what?" and thats when i started to cry like an idiot . I felt horrible and then he went up to me and repeatedly asked me whats wrong in a worried tone and i wouldnt tell him with tears dropping down my face with mascara all over my face and him looking at me (i felt embarrassed ..its probably he wanted to ask her out again cus he was asking his guy friend about choosing a special date (day)..what should I do ?

Could my assumptions be wrong ? if i have to get over him it would be so hard because he's such an amazing friend and i dont want to forget him but at the same time it hurts...why would he break up with his gf to potentially get back with her ? that doesnt make sense..i didnt hear him saying "asking her out" just "asking" idk..
and when i asked his friend about it he said , "well he didnt tell me about asking her out, just asking her something like a suprise on a special day" and im assuming that means asking her out..cant be anything else
